“Baptism is the outward expression of an inward change.”
We were so excited to have baptized 5 students last Sunday as part of The Wall youth group. Every one of them had a testimony of what Jesus had done in their lives recently… and it truly was a celebration as they were cleansed before God.
Anna, Rachel, Jennifer, Brandon and Mary Lane… We are so proud of you guys!
Tonight at our service we will be showing the pictures…. to celebrate with them what has happened!!!
It’s almost time for SUMMER SESSIONS!!!! E-mail us at Thewall@resound247.com if you would like to sign up!
Last week, our youth pastor, Kendall Thorsell, spoke a sermon titled “letting go.” She talked about when God gives us a direct word to release something in our lives… how it is our responsibility to let it go. If we are not willing to let something go for God, then it is idolatry, and we are choosing it above God.
“I am not even referring to sin alone here. I am referring to anything that God asks you to release… even if it’s not sin. It might be something in your life that He wants you to let go because He is raising the standard in your life… He wants to bring you closer. ” Said Kendall.
We can have the mindset that Jesus requires things of us because He just wants us to be unhappy here in this life. But that isn’t true! It is because He loves us that He raises the standard of our lives so we can be closer to Him. So we will spend time with Him.
“Let’s be real, how many hours do you spend on facebook compared to hours you spend praying? How about watching TV? Talking on the phone? What do you spend most of your time dreaming about? What are the majority of your conversations about? …Where does your heart really land?” asked Kendall.
Mark 10, starting in verse 17 shows how Jesus requires us to let go of things…. because He wants us to follow Him. He wants us to release things of this world to follow Him. Just like He does with the Rich man in this story. It was “Out of genuine love for him” then Jesus tells Him to give up everything and follow Him.
“God is not out to destroy your life… He is out to build your eternal life. It just so happens that the requirement to build in Heaven is to release things on earth. ” Said Kendall.

The story of Noah…. on the news.
Last night, one of our very own students, James West preached on (and through) the book of James. It was so good! He broke down the book into, almost, a verse by verse study to what it means. It was awesome to hear someone preach in that way, where he truly let Scripture speak for itself. After he finished speaking, the room shared what they were hearing themselves from the Holy Spirit, proving that God was speaking to us all. James gave incredible revelation to the Scriptures, while the room also got revelation themselves.
“We all know that trials build perseverance and maturity because ‘what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger’, right? WRONG. What does kill us makes us stronger: for we must die to ourselves and become alive in Christ. Trials help us by killing us. As we become less, God becomes more until He fills us completely and we lack nothing because God is everything.”
-James
It was an awesome sermon. So the question stands…. was James able to understand James so well because they share the same name? Probably not… but they did both listen to God, and the words of James in the Bible came alive through the James of our generation.
